Is Café Poupette more of a Palma restaurant or a café? In any case, it has a few very special advantages!

Is it a restaurant Palma? Or a café? Café Poupette is definitely a special gem, that much in advance. And for several reasons.

Go for breakfast!

Imagine that you want to go out for breakfast as a family with children on Saturday or Sunday morning. Just like you used to do as a couple. And you haven't done it for a long time. Then pick one of the really great playgrounds in Palma and maybe choose the Sa Feixina playground. It's in the middle of Palma's best location, at the "end" of Paseo Mallorca and at the "beginning" of Sa Feixina Park. This is a small green strip parallel to the moat of the former city wall.

And now comes the best part: directly between the street and the playground is the entrance and exit to a large underground car park. With an entrance height of 2 m suitable for family buses. In the morning, it is usually quite empty and you can comfortably transport the whole baggage to the site.

The playground is suitable for all ages

Once there, you will find various playground equipment, both for the very young and for the older ones. And in addition, there is - at least at the moment - a beautiful old merry-go-round, which is a big attraction for our kids.

Only a few steps separate the playground from Café Poupette. From the terrace, you can keep an eye on your kids in the playground from most seats. So we sit down, the children halfway in view, and are pleased about the nice service that quickly approaches. The other guests don't all have children, by the way. They are united by a basic tendency towards urban hipsterism.

The breakfast menu at this Palma restaurant is great! I love going out for breakfast on Saturdays or Sundays. My standard breakfast is a croissant with strawberry jam.

Croissants in Spain

Here in Spain, I struggle to keep the croissant from being cut in half and toasted. After a good two years, I've almost got used to it. Especially as it often makes sense to toast the croissant, because otherwise there's a big risk of it coming out soggy at the weekend in the Palma restaurant.

I order the strawberry jam separately. Otherwise it may already be on the croissant.

Eggs are part of it

Sometimes I order a scrambled egg ("huevos revueltos"). I like them to be sloppy, i.e. not quite cooked through. And I also like it the French way, that is, topped only with butter. With a little ketchup on the side. No bacon, no spring onions and I like real eggs, not an egg mixture from a carton.

Banana Clip Group?

So you see, breakfast plays a role for me. That's why I'm all the more excited about the breakfast menu at Café Poupette. A huge selection from France to England to Scandinavia. I stumble across the Banana Clip and learn that it is a tribute to the operators. They call themselves the Banana Clip Group and also run Rikito and Mr. Xiao in Santa Catalina. A trendy Italian with fresh pasta and a Chinese restaurant Palma. Plus Café Poupette, which is obviously meant to show French roots. A nice combination of restaurants in Palma actually, maybe someone just fulfilled his own wishes...

One of the special features of Café Poupette is that the morning service is served from 09:30 to 12:00. Lunch and dinner are served from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 19:30 to 0:00 respectively. In addition, there is a snack service in the early evening and an offer for the whole day. So the menu has a certain complexity and at the same time offers just the right clarity at its respective time.

Egg Benedict à la Poupette

I was delighted with my Egg Benedict à la Poupette, which I ordered. Very tasty served on these little toasties. I wouldn't order the bacon again, it wasn't crispy enough for me and it was baked too differently. But I'm particular about that ...

Croissant looks good!

The continental breakfast consists of toasted bread slices, which were unfortunately very hard. Fresh, I think it would be a great bread. The croissant was in the good range, a delicious tasting product, probably from the freezer. Which is not at all unusual, has really good qualities and I prefer it to a weak performance from the baker round the corner. Comes with nicely packaged French sweet cream butter and the desired strawberry jam. Super! The orange juice seemed a bit thin to me and was surprisingly sweet, the cappuccino was very good.

Conclusion?

All in all, an absolutely rounded package with minor weaknesses, but one can safely overlook them because it is precisely the sum of its qualities that makes Café Poupette so attractive.

"Nice service, great interior design, sitting by the playground, a smart gastronomic concept".

In my opinion, this is exactly the kind of concept that Restaurant Palma was missing! So, especially for those of you with children of playground age: give it a try, maybe we'll see you there!
