I am surprised myself, suddenly it started. My first "resumen de la obra" for the two penthouses in Cala Mayor. Attentive readers know, these are these two apartments with the stark view, which throws me even as an experienced architect every time a bit off track

The work started just a week ago. And we can already see a lot. The team was complete and committed. The workers, the specialized companies, the transporters with the forklift and the project management "tutti" in the first act on stage.

First act of the reconstruction in Cala Mayor

What does such a rebuild start with? If you do it thoroughly, then with a demolition. Carpentry work like cabinets and doors or the kitchen is gone. The floor is removed. Cables and pipes torn out of the wall. Some still hanging out of the false ceiling, they were part of a lighting system that we'd rather redo completely. Then we'll know what's where.

And then this gorgeous roof terrace. Completely bare like a skeleton of a floor. A framework of wooden beams that were the basis for the flooring, now completely burned by the sun, disposed of. All the pipes that supplied the installations of the apartment are visible. The exterior just unfolds a completely contradictory effect on me. It is an absurd mixture of shabby dreariness and a beautiful, even breathtaking view.

By the way, the big penthouse in Cala Mayor is already rented for several years. The small penthouse you can still rent or reserve. We plan to move in on April 01, 2023. But now it goes on with the construction site and the false ceilings and cladding. Next week I will report!

Many greetings from Mallorca,

Miguel
