Wednesdays again and again
Attentive readers know it, every Wednesday at 09:30 we are on the construction site of our Cala Mayor Penthouses. We meet in full round with our interior architect Elena, the boss of HOLGER SL Marcos, his architect, our new architect Carlos Quito and all involved craftsmen.
We had a pretty chaotic time with this construction site. As I had already written, the previous architect has collected here. But he didn't deliver very much. So, on the one hand, we had to reverse decisions on the construction site that made no sense. On the other hand, however, we also had to redo plans that had not been carried out in a hurry.
For example, we had to completely redesign the bathrooms because the showers were inaccessible. In one case, because the toilet was in the way. Or the ceiling height became lower with the distance from the viewer, which doesn't really improve the perspective... Or the machines for the air conditioning were "bombed" under the ceiling in such a way that another 30 centimeters of ceiling height would have been destroyed.
Unfortunately, the colleague has also "messed around" with the statics. I then took the opportunity to have it completely recalculated, so that the future owner does not get from the terrace into the living room without stairs ... On the subject of terrace and statics but more later, today we take care of the bathrooms!
Bathroom Tile ...
So after Elena redesigned and redesigned the bathrooms, we went to DURAN in Coll d'en Rabassa today to look at exciting materials. Our basic idea was to lay the floor uniformly in both apartments. We think it will be especially nice because it brings in a lot of peace. And we have the same alignments in the joint pattern.
And in "The Corner" to work with huge tiles 120 x 240 cm, in a beautiful light olive green tone. We limit ourselves to the shower area, because we both do not like these hospital tiled bathrooms. Elena has planned the vanity in oak. In "The View" we use the same kind of tiles. Also in the same impressive size. Only we are going more towards an exposed concrete look.
Why do we use tiles? Probably you think that would be the cheapest option. But in fact, in the size it is reversed. Tiles in the size are extremely expensive. And sensitive to transport and installation. But when they then "sit", they are virtually indestructible. And because of the huge size, they are the only form of wall covering that is industrially manufactured and therefore perfect in finish and surface. Microcement, for example, is quite difficult. It can look very good. But it can also go wrong.
As fittings we have chosen the 316 series from GESSI decided. Probably in gunmetal black. Possibly it will also stainless steel matt. Find the 316 ingenious because they combine the advantages of the Vola classic with a little more contemporary pizzazz. You have to take a look!
Do you like it? We are quite satisfied with how well we are progressing in the new constellation. Everything is just starting to jerk, but thanks to all involved that we have quickly regained our footing here!
