Ca'n Toni Palma

Not a tourist trap!

Do not expect here a modern gastro like El Camino or KOAbut a restaurant that looks as if it had been taken out of a Mallorcan farming village and planted in the middle of the city. When I talk about Café Ca'n Toni Palma with friends and acquaintances, few know the place. However, Café Ca'n Toni Palma is one of the emblematic places in Palma. With over 1000 four and a half star ratings on Google, it is probably also one of the most underrated. By the way, why it's called "Café", I don't know either ...

Wood stove

A friendly and professional service and especially the presence of a wood oven where suckling pig and lambs are delicately prepared, makes the visit a delicious and authentic experience. Discover typical Mallorcan recipes and enjoy the authentic atmosphere of the center of Palma in a unique place. Here you can find superior quality at slightly higher prices, certainly because the ingredients are above average.

Family service

The owner, whose name is of course Toni, often sits at the first table on the right as soon as you enter. With glasses, short gray hair and wearing a blue shirt, he closely monitors his staff as well as the proper functioning of the kitchen. His particular Mallorcan and dry sense of humor sets him apart. "Just don't give me too much work," he replied when I explained that I planned to write about his restaurant. The waiters wear typical Spanish bar attire and are professionals. They know their wines, their dishes. And have also mastered the art of expertly slicing ham. All in all, a brisk, attentive and friendly service, where you can feel the Spanish gastronomy not only in the dishes, but also in the nice interaction with the guest.

Majorcan specialties

Hardly place gets, of course, the typical warm bread and homemade aioli. As an appetizer I would definitely recommend the ham cut directly from the leg. Tapas like Gambas al ajillo are also a super option. Note: these are already quite large portions. However, leave room for the main course. Whether it's lamb, pork or rabbit, I especially recommend meat baked in a wood-fired oven. If I could only choose one dish, I would go for the tender and spectacular porcella (suckling pig ). A dish that is usually prepared in Mallorcan families at the turn of the year. And of course a nice glass of wine to go with it, as the wine selection is varied and good. If you don't like meat, just have the dorada or paella. The fish here is always fresh and delicious.

Location

Ca'n Toni Palma is also a great place to spend a day in the center of Palma, strolling through the main streets and then end the trip here. The restaurant is located next to the exclusive alley Carrer Sant Feliu and just a stone's throw from El Borne. In the immediate vicinity are the Plaza Puerta Santa Catalina, the public library and Avenida Jaime III

Thanks to the many dark wood, the place exudes a lot of coziness. The terrace, built in the middle of the street and overlooking the church of Sant Andreu, gives the place a certain idyll. Eat while you watch the hustle and bustle of the small streets of Palma in a friendly and familiar atmosphere.

Ca'n Toni Palma Prices

Compared to other restaurants, Café Ca'n Toni is not cheap. But the quality of food and drinks offered is also a class above most restaurants in Palma. The average spend per person is around 50 euros.

In order not to miss the tasty experience, I strongly recommend you to make a reservation, because the restaurant is small and always well attended. To get a seat spontaneously is usually difficult.
