Santa Palma

It started great - but somehow it went downhill ...

It often happens that the individual courses of a menu are different good. In Santa Palma, however, it was so that it unfortunately became a bit worse with each course ...

Santa Palma: A unique culinary experience

Nestled in the vibrant "food mile" of Calle Fabrica, Santa Palma blends seamlessly into the lively ambience of Santa Catalina. During a spontaneous outing with my wife, we unexpectedly ended up at this restaurant and were promptly rewarded with an exceptional culinary experience.

The atmosphere at Santa Palma is warm and inviting, with dark hues softened by an array of creative lighting elements. The interior offers a pleasant mix of traditional tables and bar stools, providing a sense of privacy despite the close seating.

A paradise for gourmets in the heart of Santa Catalina

I went with the best wife of all to Calle Fabrica, Santa Catalina's popular "food mile" and had accidentally reserved the wrong restaurant. But what gave us a new experience.

An attentive service employee suggested our seats. He gave us the choice between indoors and outdoors at the Santa Palma and told us, in view of gloomy clouds that evening, that we could of course move indoors later. A very nice offer. Inside, the Santa Palma is cozy. Held in rather dark shades, the contrast is created by partly fancy lighting. You sit at normal but also bar tables and is by the interior design despite the relatively narrow seating felt but a bit for himself.

Stairway to Heaven

We started at Santa Palma with the "Stairway to Heaven", a pleasant good drinkable wine with the meal. For appetizers we opted for "Bravas Hojaldradas", basically a potato gratin that is very finely layered and then presumably deep fried. Yum! It's accompanied by little dabs of mayonnaise with a spicy base. Fits and looks great!

More is more ...

Our culinary journey at Santa Palma began with the "Stairway to Heaven," a pleasant, easy-drinking wine that was a perfect match for our chosen appetizers. "Bravas Hojaldradas," a finely layered potato gratin that was probably deep fried, was an absolute delight. It was accompanied by little dabs of mayonnaise with a spicy undertone - a delicious and aesthetically pleasing combination!

Among our other discoveries was the "Santa Ensaladilla", a wonderful creation of "Ensaladilla Russa", a small fried egg and a grilled skewer. Despite its visual beauty, this salad was more than just a feast for the eyes - it offered an equally pleasing taste experience, although it initially sounded more interesting than it actually was.

Toast always goes

The "Tosta del Payes," a toast with a seductively savory layer of truffled sobrasada, was also a hit. At only 5.50 euros, this was an inexpensive appetizer that should please any foodie with a penchant for savory flavors.

If you are looking for something more exotic, the "Ensalada Thai" offers a delicious roast beef, artfully cut and lovingly presented. At 16 euros, this salad is perhaps a bit more expensive, but the quality and culinary experience justify the price.

For meat lovers, Santa Palma also offers the "Lomo Black Angus" with fries, a dish that delighted my wife. The meat was well-crafted, although a little more flavor of its own would have been desirable. However, at a price of 36 euros, it was a satisfying dish overall.

Steak with fries

The best wife of all had of course gone for the "Lomo Black Angus" with fries and was quite happy with it. I thought the fries were really good. The Black Angus lacked some flavor of its own, but was well prepared in terms of craftsmanship and the eye was also pleased with this plate. For 36 euros in order but I would have liked more zing and a more interesting piece of beef.

Unfortunately, the "Coliflor Asada" was not the expected highlight of our dinner. It was more of a disappointment, with little to no roasted flavors and a rather uninspired taste.

Sweet conclusion

Our culinary journey at Santa Palma ended with the "Smashing Pistacho," a dessert consisting of a pistachio mousse. The dessert was served with dry ice-like crunch that gave it an interesting texture. Although it was a bit too sweet and a bit monotonous, overall it was a satisfying end to our meal.

So?

In summary, Santa Palma, in the heart of Santa Catalina, is a place where you can eat well for the most part. Some dishes offer a special zing, while others are more traditional. However, the quality is not always consistent. Nevertheless, the restaurant offers a nice atmosphere, friendly and professional service, and an interesting cocktail menu.

All in all, Santa Palma offers a pleasant culinary experience worth having when you are in Santa Catalina. Enjoy the delicious dishes and spend a nice evening at this charming restaurant on the vibrant Calle Fabrica.
