Calvià

Calvià is both a municipality and an established town in Mallorca’s southwest. The municipal area extends from the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana to a long coastline with numerous coves, marinas, and residential areas. When speaking of Calvià, it is therefore important to always consider the exact location: village, coast, and hill country differ clearly from one another.

Calvià Vila is the administrative centre of the municipality. Natural stone houses, quiet streets, and the parish church shape a townscape that is defined more by everyday Mallorcan life than by tourism. Around the town are fields, wooded hills, and rural estates; Palma nevertheless remains easily accessible.

The municipality includes well-known coastal areas such as Bendinat, Portals Nous, Costa d’en Blanes, Santa Ponça, Peguera, and other places. Accordingly, the infrastructure is diverse: international schools, golf courses, marinas, beaches, restaurants, medical services, and shopping options are spread across the entire area. Many residential areas are lively year-round, while others change their rhythm noticeably with the season.

The landscape is an essential part of the quality of life. In elevated areas, views open up to the sea and the mountains, while the coast alternates between small coves and larger beaches. At the same time, the municipality’s wide extent means that a car is sensible or necessary for many everyday journeys.

The property offering is also exceptionally broad. It ranges from village houses and fincas inland to apartments close to the sea and spacious villas in established residential areas. For a well-founded choice, it is therefore less the municipal name that matters than the micro-location, orientation, access, infrastructure, and the individual character of the respective district.
