Mallorca is known worldwide for its breathtaking nature, crystal clear waters and excellent gastronomy. But the offer of art and culture are not to be neglected. The island has a large number of theaters, halls and auditoriums dedicated to the performing arts, making it a privileged destination for theater lovers.
Herewith, I would like to give you a comprehensive overview of the cultural offer of theaters on Mallorca. Enclosed I have compiled a list of the ten best theaters on the island, which are definitely worth a visit.
Teatre Principal
The theater has had an eventful history and has constantly evolved and modernized over time. Today it is known as "Teatro Principal" and offers the most modern technology and facilities for its spectators. The last renovation in 2007 made it one of the most advanced theaters in Europe. Despite all these changes, the theater has maintained its historical importance and remains an important part of the cultural heritage of Mallorca.
The theater "Casa de las Comedias" opened its doors in 1667 and could seat 800 people. It differed from other European theaters of its time by its rectangular shape, which followed the Corrales model. Over the years, it underwent many changes and problems until it was finally completely rebuilt in 1854 under the name "Teatro de la Princesa". However, after a devastating fire in 1858, it was rebuilt and given the name "Teatro del Príncipe de Asturias".
The auditorium
The auditorium was built in 1969 and has nine halls. The Sala Magna and the Sala Mozart are the highlights of the auditorium. Both halls are designed as theaters and offer optimal visual and sound quality for plays, concerts, dance performances and any other type of event. In addition, both halls are also ideal for meetings and congresses. Auditorium Palma offers its guests a prime location in the heart of Palma Bay, right on the harbor promenade (Paseo Maritimo), just 10 minutes from the airport and within walking distance of downtown. It is therefore convenient for both locals and tourists and offers the opportunity to experience the best shows and events in Mallorca.

No one would suspect that in the middle of El Molinar is hidden a real pearl of culture.
The Fundació Teatre del Mar is the result of a joint initiative of a group of professionals and entities with different fields of activity . The common goal of this convergence of private interests is to satisfy a public need closely related to the theater: the creation of a private theater with a public purpose. The theater was built in 1940, and renovated in the 90s and offers programming from October to June.
