Discover the breathtaking MA-10 country road, which winds through the Serra de Tramuntana and has one surprise or two up its sleeve
If you want an idea of what it feels like to float on cloud nine, simply take the MA-10 in Mallorca and drive through the Serra de Tramuntana. This road offers an experience that will enchant you with spectacular views of the sea and the mountains, as well as hidden gems. So pack your sunscreen, buckle up, and let’s go!
The MA-10 is one of the most impressive roads you can experience in Mallorca. This breathtaking route runs through the entire Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range in the west of the island that has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The road begins in Andratx and winds through the mountains, past the most picturesque villages, all the way to Pollensa. Here, you can expect stunning views of the sea and the mountains, as well as many hidden treasures waiting to be discovered.
A scenic drive that has more than once served as the backdrop for the odd commercial
Picturesque olive groves, almond trees and pine forests create a fascinating landscape that changes with the seasons. In spring, the almond trees bloom in all their glory, while in autumn the leaves of the deciduous trees glow in a beautiful palette of colors. Regardless of the season, the MA-10 road always offers an unforgettable sight and view.

The road features a combination of wide bends and tight hairpin turns, making the drive challenging and exciting. In some places, the road can be so narrow that drivers really do need to be careful with the accelerator. Nevertheless, the drive is very rewarding, as the road passes through the most charming and historic spots in the Tramuntana. Including Estellencs, Banyalbufar, Valldemossa, Deià , Fornalutx or Sóller.
From Sóller, you drive through the mountain landscape to the Gorg Blau. The road winds through the mountains and reaches its highest point on the way to Sóller at the Gorg Blau and Cuber reservoirs. The drive is particularly impressive in the early morning hours, when it is still quiet on the road and you can stop easily and breathe in the landscape. Feel free to read our article about a dream hike around the Cuber reservoir.

Another highlight of the route is the section after Puig Major, the highest mountain on the island. The so-called “Coll dels Reis” leads down narrow serpentines to Sa Calobra along the coast. The drive is undoubtedly spectacular, but it takes some nerve—especially with oncoming traffic. Sheep and donkeys also cross the road along the way. In Sa Calobra, you can park for free before 9 a.m. and take a short walk to the impressive Torrent de Pareis. Don’t forget to plan the trip carefully and, especially in the warmer months, bring enough water and sunscreen.

The MA-10 offers many breathtaking viewpoints that provide a spectacular panorama of the landscape and the sea. Here are a few you shouldn’t miss and that are easy to reach by car:
