Dinosaur Tours Mallorca

>Have you always wanted to see a dinosaur show? Or have you wondered, when you saw the advertisement for Dinosaur Tours Mallorca on Palma's ring road just before IKEA, what it might be?

It rains in Palma in November. Not occasionally. Actually, occasionally it doesn't rain. So the question for all families with children is: "What do we do at the weekend"?

My wife saw an advertisement for the Dinosaurs Tour in Palma and ordered some tickets online. The price per ticket was 10 euros. We arranged to meet up with some friends at a huge empty site called Son Fusteret, where a black industrial tent stood next to a circus field.

We marched into the black tent full of anticipation. We men in particular were excited to see what would be inside the huge tent.

Thick air

Inside, we were amazed at the apparent absence of a ventilation system. In any case, it was nice and warm. Despite the lousy weather outside. In Corona times I would have preferred something cooler and more fresh air, but so be it! We were early, it was still relatively empty and the warmth was quite pleasant.

The dinosaurs are large plastic sculptures that are bathed in different colour schemes by powerful LED spotlights. This looks quite spectacular in the actually dark hall. On top of that, a sound designer's idea of how this dinosaur might have roared comes from the tape. And most of the models still moved individual body parts up and down.

I have made a short film for you, so you can see for yourself:

This went on throughout the whole exhibition, which basically consisted of an elongated oval about 50 metres long. At the end, there were the obligatory riding machines, but with dinosaurs. I found them very sporty for what was on offer at 3 euros per ride. On the positive side, the ride was so slow that even the smallest children shouldn't get scared. However, the dinosaurs were - logically - quite high. But above all, I thought it was too expensive! And then, of course, there was the obligatory merchandise shop before the exit...

As an adult, you were "done" after 5-10 minutes, the kids still found it quite fun to rummage for fossils in the sandbox and occupied themselves a little longer with the exhibition.

Is Dinosaur Tours Mallorca worth it?

Did the kids like it? Yes, they did. Would I go again? No, probably not. And is it really worth it? I'll put it this way, for 10 euros each I thought it was just about reasonable. Basically, all these attractions and rides are always too expensive, at least in my opinion. I suppose because the effort behind them is high. Transporting all the stuff somewhere and setting it up. Then to do massive advertising again at a new place, and then to move on again. Nevertheless, there wasn't enough fascination for me. Another father said that it would have been amazing for him as a child. But today the picture world is so perfect. And even the bad children's streaming series are on a visually high level. And a few plastic dinosaurs are simply frighteningly "fake" with their cheap lighting effects.

But if you see it as a children's excursion. And don't assume that the whole day is somehow "filled", then that's okay. No more and no less.

So have fun and hopefully the rain will stop soon!

"You can. You don't have to. Dinosaur Tours Mallorca gives the kids a short burst of fun, but also gives them a big hand. In addition, for me there was the issue of Corona, which I think could be solved better."
